Have you been looking at your bedroom and wanting to redecorate, but your budget is tight? This is a good time to add a little life to your bedroom. I’ve been seeing sales on paints, wallpaper, comforters and duvets, linens, area rugs, lighting, wall décor and more.
That sought after bedroom in one of your favorite magazines, is within reach. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars and spend too much time to create a dreamy new bedroom. You would be amazed at what a big impact these simple bedroom decorating ideas can make. Try any one or several of the following ideas without your wallet feeling the pinch.
Tip # 1 – Removable or Temporary Wallpaper
Temporary wallpaper is a huge trend and is very budget-friendly. Also, called “renter’s wallpaper,” this product is removable and requires no paste or water. You can have a lot of fun with patterns and colors you might not want to live with permanently. Temporary wallpaper is perfect if you’d love a stylish look without the commitment.
Choosing bold wallpaper patterns in vertical stripes can make your ceiling look taller, and horizontal stripes to make your room look larger. You can use temporary wallpaper in clever ways to update your space easily and affordably. Don’t limit yourself to a simple wall application; you can use this wallpaper to line the back of shelves or inside cabinets, to add a peek of color and pattern.
I found some beautiful wallpapers and stunning murals all with budget friendly prices. Stop by Tempaper.com Check out her gallery. In Tempaper’s current email, they offer 15% Discount of Single Rolls use code SPRING15 and 25% off Double Rolls use code SPRING25.

Tip #2 – A Fresh Coat of Paint for your Bedroom
For the biggest impact with the least expenditure, give your bedroom a fresh coat of paint. You can buy a gallon of paint, rollers, brushes and other painting necessities for around $100 if you stay away from the most expensive designer brands.

Try a two-tone wall. Make a dramatic change with just a couple of cans of paint and some painter’s tape. Go with a darker color on the bottom half of the wall and save a hue a few shades lighter for the top portion to draw the eye upward.
Painting is easy enough for even beginning DIYers, and you should be able to finish your room in a weekend. Whether your style is clean and white, tranquil and neutral, bold and bright or contemporary and dark, there’s a paint color to please your decorating sensibilities while leaving your bank account unharmed.
Tip #3 – Make Over Your Bed, a New Duvet
Consider covering your comforter with a new duvet cover. New bedding can create a whole new-look, taking your room from modern to classic, frumpy to luxury, and old to cozy and more. Using your old comforter as the insert for your new duvet, and it is…wait for it…. budget friendly.
Your bed is the focal point of your bedroom, so make sure it stands up to the scrutiny. It’s true that for $100 or less, you aren’t going to be able to purchase designer brands. You can find beautiful bedding in a bevy of styles and colors at Wayfair, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Walmart, Overstock, Home Depot (Yes, I know it’s a Hardware Store, look online) or similar stores.
Tip #4 – Light up with a Gorgeous Lamp or Chandelier
Is your bedroom ceiling adorned with nothing more spectacular than a light bulb encased in a frosted glass bowl? Boring! Swap out your dull ceiling fixture for something spectacular. An affordable way to add flair and ambiance to a bedroom is by updating the light fixtures.
Even if you change nothing else in your bedroom, a bold ceiling fixture gives the space immediate panache. And there are nearly endless styles to choose from, so you are sure to find something you love and budget friendly.
Avoid putting overhead lighting directly over the bed. It can be uncomfortable on the eyes when lying down. If you’re looking for climate control, choose a light fixture with a ceiling fan to help cool you during the summer months.
Tip # 5 – Mirrors-Unique Artistic Statement
Your eyes aren’t deceiving you: Mirrors make any room look bigger by reflecting light. A mirror as a headboard or even leaning up against
the wall will help a small room feel spacious.
Adding mirrors to your decorating scheme is a great way to add depth and create visual interest. Another benefit is bringing brightness and light to your bedroom. Rather than just adding one mirror, consider adding a series of smaller ones for a unique artistic statement.
Tip # 6 – Don’t Forget the Floors – Your toes will thank you!
If you don’t have an area rug in your bedroom, you’re missing out on an easy way to give color and interest to the space. Plus, you can find great rugs at rock-bottom prices. If your bedroom is carpeted, layer an area rug right on top for a whole new-look.
Adding a properly-sized area rug makes a room look bigger and more pulled together, even on top of carpeting. Be sure to choose one that’s large enough to tuck under the bed and at least one other piece of furniture.
Tip # 7 – Reframe your view – New Drapes
It may be a cliche, but windows really are the eyes of your home and the way you dress them can make or break your room scheme. Not only does the design you choose need to be attractive, it will ultimately dictate the light that’s cast into the space, so a versatile window dressing is your best option.
Venetian blinds varieties including metal, plastic and wood. These can be tilted to let more or less light in and for extra privacy, plus, they are easy to wipe clean. Vertical blinds are a practical solution, but can look a little dated and roller blinds are often chosen in favor for a contemporary look.
A stiffer curtain fabric will create an elegant drape, however, lighter voile curtains are ideal for teaming with blinds at windows that require a little extra privacy.
Tip # 8 – an Indoor Garden
When it’s time to liven up the bedroom, you can’t go wrong with something alive. Plants are a great way to bring warmth and life to any space.
Houseplants not only add color, contrast, and natural appeal, they also generate oxygen and help filter the air. The key to decorating with plants is that you should never use just one. Either use them as balanced pair in corners or layer multiple plants of various sizes.
Keep the color of the leaves complementary, use light green foliage together for a tropical look or dark greens for a more modern or sophisticated style.
Even if your thumb isn’t green, you can grow easy plants like pothos, Chinese evergreen, dracaena, philodendron or spider plants.
Tip # 9 – Add Metallic Elements
A little bit of bling adds excitement to your favorite outfit, and it’s no different in the bedroom. A few touches of shine, whether from glass, metallic surfaces, or reflective embellishments, go a long way to dispelling the doldrums.
Warm metallics, particularly gold, are riding especially high on the style charts right now. But if you prefer the cool tones of silver or chrome, go right ahead and add a touch to your bedroom. Take care, however, because a little bit of shine is a good thing but too much metal can be overwhelming.
Tip #10 – Choose Colorful Throw Pillows
Neutrals are soothing, but a bedroom without any contrast is boring. Not to fear— you can add a touch of color just by adding a few bright throw pillows to your bed.
Whatever your decorating style, you’ll find colorful throw pillows to match. As a general rule, your bed will look best with three throw pillows that coordinate (they don’t have to match perfectly) in color, style or design.
Before I go… other Budget Friendly Decorating Tips
Are your walls empty stretches of white? Although few people forget to hang artwork in the living room, its decorating impact is often overlooked when it comes to the bedroom.
Go ahead and hang your favorite painting, print, poster, quilt, or collection of family photos on the wall over your headboard, or on whichever bedroom wall has the most open space. You’ll get an immediate dose of interest. Feeling ambitious? Combine multiple pieces to create a stunning gallery wall.
Create a reading nook – All it takes is a cozy chair, a standing lamp, and a new book to make the corner of your bedroom feel like a brand new space.
I hope you have found something in these Budget Friendly Bedroom Decorating Tips to make your bedroom more enjoyable and refreshed.
